My students should expect homework Monday through Thursday. They will have math workbook pages to complete at home to reinforce what we learned in class. Grammar/spelling workbook pages may be given at times as well. Students should expect study guides to review for Math, Science, or Social Studies quizzes.
I am expecting my students to READ and read often. Please set a routine and encourage reading at home as much as possible. I would suggest getting your child reading 15 minutes 4/7 days per week.
Parents, I encourage you to listen to your child read at least once a week so that you can intervene with decoding, phrasing, expression and interject with questioning, making predictions and helping to connect text with your child to build comprehension skills.
My students will have a poem of the week which they will need to read aloud 3 times daily. Reading poetry aloud is a fun way to build vocabulary and practice reading fluently. Please keep your poem in your take home folder all week.
See the top panel to print out an additional poem of the week.
